What's the difference between "carrera de especialización" and "maestría"?

I want to study in Buenos Aires for my master's degree, but am confused at the language on the University of BA's website.

What's the difference between "carrera de especialización" and "maestría"?

I already have my bachelor's degree and I want a master's. Am I supposed to take both "carrera" and "maestría"?

And yup, I do speak Spanish-- I majored in it, as well as journalism. I'm hoping to study journalism or communication for my master's.

I am in Mexico and I do not know how is the education system in Argentina. I can tell you that "carrera de especilización" over here is called to the equivalent Bachelor's degree but taking some additional courses designed to "specialize" it in a subject, while "maestría" is the Master's Degree" you can get in U.S.

If you have the bachelor´s degree you can jump directly to the Master's degree courses.

Carrera de Especializacion means litteraly : Career of Specialty.

Maestria is the degree: Master Degree.

As you want to get a Master Degree, you need to tell the University of Buenos Aires in what Specialty you want to earn that degree.

carrera is when you are following some type of profession

and maestría is exactly what you want, that is a Master's Degree.
