A. BROWN - W 135 (KO'S 61) TF 170 - W pct 79% - KO pct 36% - wins over Nelson and Breslin[2] - KO'ed by none - #46 ranked fighter
Held title for 6 yrs

ZARATE - W 66 (KO's 63) TF 70 - W pct 94% - KO pct 90% - wins over Zamora, Davila and Savage - KO'ed by Gomez, Zaragoza and Fenech - #21 ranked puncher - #76 ranked fighter
Held title for 4 yrs
I rank him as the one of the best pound for pound punchers of all-time

When I first looked at this bout, I automatically picked Zarate by KO. I see that Brown was never KO'ed. As I said it is hard for me to rate '20's and '30's fighter because I can't judge their opposition. Al was a good boxer and his reach would have kept Carlos off of him. Zarate would have forced the fight and this pressure had him winning his first championship decision instead of a KO. It would be a majority decision.

Brown would keep Zarate off of him with his 76 inch reach to win 15 round decision. Zarate had great KO power but Brown had fair power also. In a mild upset I go with Brown. Both great fighters.

i do not comprehend too a lot about brown, yet there's no denying that both he and zarate were 2 of the superb bantamweights ever. in spite of the undeniable fact that i'm gonna %. zarate by way of overdue stoppage or decision. it truly is puzzling to %. adverse to zarate at this weight. perchance jofre or mcgovern might want to triumph over zarate, yet i do not see every person else doing it at 118.
