I had a similar situation, and it was the mucus plug. If you are overly concerned, see your OB. Good luck!

It may be your mucous plug. The actual size of the mucous plug is the size of a golf ball. Sometimes the white gooey discharge comes out in pieces. If pieces are discharged, the mucous plug will regenerate. This may or may not be indicitive of being in labor. However, if the white sticky discharge is tinged brown or pink, it's time to call your doctor since you're starting labor.
If you are leaking amniotic fluid, that means your water has broken and you have started labor. You can tell if it is amniotic fluid because it is clear (like urine) and has no smell or color.

There is a mucous plug that probably is what you are talking about . This plug is in the cervix, and when it's released, birth is pretty imminent. Amniotic fluid is earthy smelling and just gushes from your vagina....it's why people call it "their water breaking". When this happens you need to let your physician know right away. By all means, no sexual intercourse at this point. If you don't go right into labor, don't sit around the house waiting for it to happen. Call your doctor!

No -- amniotic fluid is more like cloudy water. I am pregnant with my 4th child. With my first my water broke and it was obvious that it was water. Luckily it broke on the toilet which was a relief! It was very similar to regular water, but it was a little cloudy.

Amniotic fluid looks kinda like urine. And when it breaks, you may feel like you need to pee and can't stop. What may be coming out is your mucous plug.
