Can you please tell me the name of the pacemaker I think he might have been an American..... he was only in to set the pace and ended up winning!!!!!

He was an American, his name was Tom Byers. The race was in Europe, Norway I think. It is a race called the Golden Mile. I remember that, it was a huge upset.

Cold runner is correct. Steve Ovett, Steve Scott, and John Walker where all in the race. They spent the race all looking at each other, whilst the pacemaker went about setting the times he was asked to do. Come the last lap and he is about 200m ahead and nigh on dead on his feet, but he still held out an extermily fast lap by Steve Ovett to win.
