Uni-polar is another name for clinical depression. It is unipolar as opposed to bi-polar, unipolar only having downs or depression whereas bipolar has highs or mania as well as depression. Prozac is very effective, it will take a little time to work so don't give up on it, it also has very few side effects. All the best x

Uni-polar mood disorder is a depressive (or only manic) disorder. This distinguishes it from bi-polar disorder, in which people experience wide mood swings from despair to elation. Sometimes though, mania manifests itself as rage. It's a good thing that you're in therapy. Being in therapy is more important than taking the medication, but give the medication time to work.

It's depression, but there are different types of depression. What you have is also called major depression.

You may have heard of bi-polar as well. The "polar" part means an extreme - either very, very upset or very, very hyper. "Uni" means one and "bi" means two. Therefore, uni-polar depression means that you constantly feel awful; bi-polar depression means that you switch between the two "poles" or "extremes".

It's a mild form of depression. It means your depression is generally depression and not manic (Depression with Manic phases is Bipolar).
I've seen unipolar manic people but it's generally with a more severe psychiatric illness.

20 mg of Prozac should elevate your mood and stabilize your depressions.
