They can live to be 16 years old on average

The most common ailment which kills of cats is Liver disease and Kidney failure. This is because they live mostly on a high protien diet and this puts enormous stress on these organs.

Better to cut down the high protien content ; they still need protein but in a different diet i.e biscuit form or fresh tuna or chicken ; steamed is best - cats don't like cooked or raw foods -

Lastly add vitamins in the diet - the diet is usually not varied and they need vitamins to sustain good health.

My cats are still kittens from the same litter - i expect they will live 16 years i.e 96 years in human years !!

I've known a cat to live to 21.

But usually its about 15-17.

A little bit of research shows

The oldest living cat is Creme Puff of Austin Texas. Born on August 3rd 1967, Creme Puff celebrated her 38th birthday in August 2005.

Also deserving a mention are Puss, who was born in 1903. Puss was owned by Mrs T. Holway of Devon. Puss passed away on 29th November, 1939, one day after his 36th birthday.

The second is Granpa who lived to the ripe old age of 34. Granpa Rexs Allen (Granpa for short) was a Sphyx adopted from the Humane Society in Texas .

Well-cared-for, neutered house pets, however, may live into their teens. Some may reach the 20s, and a few have been reported to live into the 30s.

Not too sure. My last cat before the 2 i have now lived till she was 18. We had to put her down as she has cancer in her ears as she loved to sunbake and had pink ears. If she had never sunbaked who knows how much longer she wouldv'e lived as she was perfectly healthy.

Up to 19 years is normal. Some go to 20 or even more but this is extraordinary.
