You need a bucket or a sink of warm water with some Pine-sol or something like that added. Don't use dish liquid or anything really soapy because it leaves a bigger mess than what you are cleaning. You can use a1/2 cup of bleach instead of the pine-sol. Get your mop good and wet then squeeze out the excess water. Start at the farthest point, moving your mop side to side and front to back go over the same area twice. Do about a 4ft. square at a time. then rinse your mop and do it again in your next imaginary square. Be sure to rinse your mop often in the warm water that you have prepared with which ever cleaner that you chose. The last place you mop is the door way you plan on leaving through when your finished so that the floor can dry. Don't walk on the floor till it is good and dry(about an hour). When the floor is dry give your mop a final rinse and empty and rinse the bucket or sink that you used for mop water. I usually hang my mop outside to dry, but you can lay it across some steps or something if you can't hang it.

STEP 1: Sweep or vacuum the floor clean of dust and dirt.
STEP 2: Sweep or vacuum a second time. Make sure there is no debris.
STEP 3: Fill a bucket with hot water.
STEP 4: Add a small amount of detergent, ammonia or floor cleaner to the water; the directions on the container should tell you how much to use.
STEP 5: Dip your mop in the bucket.
STEP 6: Wring out the mop using your hands or, depending on the type of mop you are using, with a lever near the mop head. STEP 7: Scrub the floor in straight lines if you're using a sponge mop. If using a rag mop, swirl the mop head in figure-eight shapes. Push the mop vigorously to remove stains or spots on the floor.
STEP 8: Rinse and wring the mop out in a sink or the bucket occasionally, and continue mopping. STEP 9: Let the floor dry before walking on it.

Sweep or vacuum first.

Run sink 3/4 full of hot water. Add cleaner, I like Lysol. Wet mop in cleaner, squeeze out excess water.

Start at the far corner of the room, away from the exit.

scrub the floor in sections about 5'x5' then rinse the mop with clear water. Dunk back into the soapy water and squeeze out most water. Scrub next section.

Mop your way out of the room. I usually end with a flourish of sinking my mop back into the soapy water to wait until the floor dries to wash out and set outside to dry.

Have a cold drink and relax.

1. clear the floor of objects
2. sweep the floor
3. prepare a wet solution for mopping (i use pine sol and water but there are other choices)
4. use a device such as sponge or string mop
5. wet the absorbent part of the device
6. move it over the floor
(you may need a brush to scrub some parts)
7. re-dip the device in the solution and squeeze it out
(to dissolve collected dirt/crud and start with cleaner solution)
8. repeat the motion over the floor until the floor is clean
9. rinse & dry the floor.

this does not apply for wood floors. this is for tile/linoleum

Fill the bucket with warm water bleach and bubbly stuff. Put your mop in and squeeze out excess water. Then push it over the floor removing dirt. Try not to walk over the area you just mopped.
