I was dating a girl and she was a little loopy and wanted out of the realtionship. The way she did it is to say that when I gave her child a (slight) spanking that I beat the hell out of him. Thus me being charged with misdemeanor domestic assault. Now I want to know if I could have this expunged and own a gun to hunt with in MN? I have been denied employment because of this also.

If you plead guilty or no contest to, or you were found guilty after a trial of Domestic Violence you cannot get your record sealed or expunged in some states, you should speak to an attorney.

Having a misdemeanor kin violence conviction is a Federal prohibition that still applies in many if no longer maximum states. notwithstanding some states alongside with Kansas even have their very own prohibitions for misdemeanor drug possession.

In some states you can't have a gun in your possesion or control if you are on probation, but when you get off probation you can.

A felony would be a different matter though. Federal law prohibits most felons from owning or possessing any guns.

I doubt if you could have this expunged, domestic violence is very serious in all states, and your chances of getting a gun is zero.

One thing that does prevent you from having a weapon is if you have a restraining order on you. While that restraining order is in effect you cannot possess a gun.
I dont know if one of those orders is involved in this case just letting you know.
There is no federal law regarding misdemeanors and having a gun. but i dunno about your state laws. you will have to check.
