Why not? Just say that you stumbled across his profile and wanted to say hi. Tell him a little about you--that you're in a relationship, for one. That way he won't assume you are just trying to rekindle an old flame. Don't go too into detail, but ask him a question or two so that he'll be more likely to respond. If he doesn't respond, at least you'll know that you tried.

I myself have re-connected with multiple ex's on myspace. It isnt weird at all if you present it right. I normally just sent a message saying something like "Hey! I just saw you on here and thought I would say hi and see what you have been up to." Keep it casual and dont add them as a friend until after they have responded and you know where they stand.

I'm grateful for myspace because it lets me do exactly that: keep in touch with people who have been out of my life for a while. Nobody will think it's wierd, promise.
Anyone who trips out or gets mad over you just saying hi to an ex on myspace needs to seriously grow up.

Do it,I found my ex two days ago and I said hi to him and we were talking through msn the hole night,we both are in a relationship but we didn't forget the good moments we had in the past!!!Good luck!!you don't have anything to loose!!!

If you two were very close, I think you should contact him, just be light and friendly in your email. He should react well and you can gain a long-lasting friendship out of an old relationship.
