Depends on the color ink. Black is the best for coping purposes. Other colors are tougher to copy, especially in handwritten forms.

*IF* you're attempting to use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to scan a handwritten document, you'll not get good (if any) results.

OCR software is written to recognize only certain Computer Fonts, NOT handwriting.

You CAN however, scan a handwritten document as a GRAPHIC, but you won't be able to edit it as text. You'll have to use a Graphics Editor program.

Sometimes you have to put something dark behind it so theres contrast but make sure the scanner picks up both papers.

maybe your software is not good enough.try abbyreader. i find that it recognises my very ba handwriting very well
