I am trying to achieve cabinets that look kind of ivory colored, but with the edges, corners, cracks kind of darker ; almost antique looking?? can I do this easily without completely stripping them? kind of like this cabinet at lowes: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=50873-444-C15530&lpage=none

I did a cabinet like that with ivory oil paint and wiped off some to make it look like that. No problem. After it dried I sealed it so it wouldn't look "wiped".... besides you could try that first then if all else fails (which i don't see how) then strip it? Why not try the easy way first.Good luck!

You can try it over top, but it's not going to be as nice as if you strip it first.

Stripping isn't so hard with the right product. I used the brush on, wipe off kind. I bought a bag-o-rags and tossed the used ones. I'm lazy.

I loved the end result, but did not do antiquing.

Follow the antiquing instructions and you'll get the result you are looking for. Buy a kit, I wouldn't just try to wing it. Ask for a recommendation of the kit from a paint store like Sherwin Williams.

lowes is the place for all of that. They have all the materials you will need, and they should even have the books for you if they cant show you how.
