Religions are always being created, the religions that are better at making and keeping converts survive and grow while the less "fit" religions shrink and die.

Absolutely. Teaching religion to children, for example, is a means for a religion to spawn. By making marriage and reproduction holy acts which have to be sanctioned by religion, the religion tries to get a grip on the next generation. If a religion would not do that, it would die out. Therefore, only religions which keep a tight grip on the daily life of their followers, will eventually survive.

Yes, and during the creation of the old testament, the meanest most dangerous, most powerful gods were better. They decided to re-write that to revamp their god's image. But even their nice guy messiah tells people to slay those who don't believe.
A religion that preaches death to non-believers, preys on human fears, and causes psychological suffering through guilt is a good candidate for being the most popular. (2 Billion christians and counting. Isn't it scary?)

Yes.
In my opinion, Christianity was like the weed in the garden that wouldn't let any other plants grow.
The "Christians" that came to South America force converted many of the Incans, and after a decade of murder and forced conversion, the Incans' worship in the sun basically died out along with the Incan people.
A shame, really :(

A VERY INTERESTING WAY TO LOOK AT THINGS ! and I think its true.
The Bible speaks of a remnant Church at the end of times, that will keep all of Gods Ten commandments. And look how fast the commandment keeping Seventh-Day Adventists are growing. They keep all Ten Commandments even the forth commandment to worship on the Sabbath just as Jesus kept it.
There is however the Catholics that has murdered millions, and that has been around forever. The Bible speaks of a false Religion that God will call His people out of at the end of time. Could this be the Catholic Church ?
And could the Seventh-Day Adventists be the remnant Church spoke of in the Bible ? INTERESTING !
Great Question !
God Bless & keep the Faith !

I guess it's probably true of most social phenomena, not just religions. Think of how the popularity of different sports has waxed and waned. You just never see a good discus tossing competition anymore.
