One year is a goal, if you don't want to be told "no" to your first choices. But it's never too late, as long as what you want is available.

Brides usually try to book at least 6 months ahead of time, especially if it is popular with weddings. A lot of places are booked that far in advance, if not further out. If you're closer to 6 months in, I'd start getting worried and be calling places asap. And it also depends on where you live. I live in east tennessee so it's a little easier than say new york or chicago. So 6 months in a bigger city may be pushing it. There is no such thing as too far in advance. The further the better in fact. And a lot of places, around here at least, will give you your deposit back if you cancel at least 6 months or so before the wedding. Anything shy of 6 months is non-refundable. If you know what you want, go get it now. If not, you better be deciding soon. You want it to be perfect!

As early as possible. My fiance and I started looking at the church and reception places almost a year and a half before our wedding and there were already other people booked for the date we wanted at the hotel. You should also have a couple backup dates in mind when you start booking, just in case. When my sister booked the church and hotel she had to change her date 3 times before finding a date on which both were available. I would say anything less than a year before your wedding date is too late, considering how early some people book these days.

I would try to book the site at least a year in advance. The great places seem to be taken early. As long as you have a place to have the wedding then I don't think there is a time that is too late. You want to have it booked before you get the inviations ordered.

Many places require a year in advance--especially if its a popular place. Duke Gardens has so many requests that you have to be there the date in question a year in advance.
Though places that are less popular may still be available 3-4 months out. Just make sure you have an idea of how many guests you plan to invite. Nothing worse than not getting your deposit back b/c you end up with 50 more people on your guest list than the reception hall holds.

I would do it as soon as possible. I am getting married july 4th 2008 and I booked mine 6 months ago. I found out i wasnt the only one booking either. Especially if you are planning a spring or summer wedding they book fast. Try going to some of the bridal expos, most halls start there right after the new year. Plus you get to usually try the food, which is a plus>> Good Luck

i've asked our parish priest last july 2006. he said that its best to book the location for the ceremony about 6-8 months before the wedding. he also said that you need to register 6 months before the wedding, you have to attend a premarital counselling (that's like 1-2 times a month), he said that you better give extra time for that coz sometimes, they can only have 1 meeting a month for the premarital counselling. he said that 6-8 months before the wedding is the ideal time to book that.

ASAP-usually 9 months to a year before, also the same for the reception site if it will be different. You should be good if you follow that rule of thumb-after that and you have proabably lost the battle to the gazillion other brides out there who have to have a site too! :)

Some places book weeks ahead, others are months .
We have NO idea where you are booking,
Since you are keeping that a secret, you call them and ask how far out they are booked.
