Remember the incursion into U.S. territory last week by Mexican gunmen. It appears that it was NOT a "chance confrontation" between the Arizona National Guard and untrained illegal immigrants, but a deliberate "perimeter probe" by an infantry-trained, uniformed Mexican force It has been learned in exclusive interviews with high-ranking sources within both the Arizona National Guard and the U.S. Border Patrol that the incident the mainstream media calls a "standoff" was in reality a military-style operation, carried out by a unit of Mexican troops dressed in military uniforms, flak jackets, and armed with AK-47s in an apparent operation to probe the border defenses and test the limits of the National Guard troops. Using easily recognizable infantry movement tactics (such as arm and hand signals and flanking maneuvers), the Mexican unit deliberately moved in a military formation across the border from Mexico, while under surveillance by the National Guard and Border Patrol.

The Democrats are talking about De-funding the passed fence bill. But the Minute Men are building a much better fence along the Arizona border. Its funded entirely by donations and volunteers are building it .Its very high tech and with many sophisticated features. Its being built on donated ranch land by the lands owners. If it stops one drug smuggler, one person that traffics in human cargo them it will be worth while.

Only if the border is militarized. If they just build a fence and leave it as is, it won't do much of anything. But it should still be built as a precursor to a long-term plan of effectively shutting down the border.

I'd rather spend $49 billion trying to protect the country proper then $49 billion fighting a war on the other side of the planet.

No. The fence will not stop illegal immigration. The government must do it by enforcing existing immigration laws. Unfortunately, neither the Democrats or the Republicans care to interrupt this source of cheap labor. We Americans have a twisted logic on what is good for America, and unfortunately this logic now is deeply entrenched in the hearts and minds of businessmen, consumers and our government officials.

It is not full proof, but it has been proven,. that when you block large area from illegals. It cuts down by a large amount the number that get through. The fence that has been talked about has motion, and sound detectors that would pick up any digging. Tje fence is virtually full proof with 2 lines of fence set about 20 ft apart and all the detectors and men stationed ever so many feet apart.

The fence won't stop anything, because the way things are going, it'll probably never be built. But, the voters can put a stop to it, if they want to, but really it's up to the majority.

However, Mexico could do a lot to stop it, and get a handle on their own social problems, and so far it sounds like they're really trying, which is a step in the right direction. But, they've got miles to go, and there's lots of pros and cons to be weighed. One thing is for sure, though, globalization hasn't been all it was crapped out to be...

If a person really wants to come here, there is no fence or water or police agency that can stop them. Like the saying goes "Where there's a will, there's a way"
I just wish that we could have fewer illegal aliens (and not just from Mexico) from around the world come here and not be punished for not having the legal documentation for residence. It is not just a Mexico problem either, that is just the ones that most people focus on, and in my opinion obsessed with. I live in Las Vegas, where yes, we do have a big problem with illegal mexican immigrants, so yeah I do see the problem. But you have to look at the big picture as well.

People - like water will 'flow' to the path of least resistance. IF there's a wall, then people will go around the wall. It "might" make a difference, though I doubt it. A wall of that magnitude will take years and years to complete... and once complete will require an 'army' to guard it.

Money would be better spent in stopping employers from hiring people (on the cheap).

Build the fence, then build giant gopher traps to put underground. Of course it will help. The general public needs to get involved in helping capture the Illegal aliens.

No, but it will slow it down a bit. I think we need a better guest worker program and make it easier for them to get in to work. They should pay taxes while they are in the US earning money to help pay for the social services many of them use.
