first you need a sound card that has stereo inputs. then you can record the audio being inputed by any number of audio/visual media applications.

cassette player output goes into the sound card inputs...

The simplest way (although not the highest quality) is to get an audio line in cable and put it from the audio out (headphone jack) on your cassette player, into the audio in on your computer.

Then you can use the sound recorder on the windows start menu to record and edit the tracks. You can probably get some free software online which will give you more options for recording.

The best way is to play the cassettes from a cassette player and record it by you PC sound card or by a MP3 player ( with recording ). you can try Sandisk Sansa Mp3 player, it provides recording function and in very good quality too.
