I have a friend who preforms internal examinations on her pregnant jack russel bitches using her fingers.I feel uncomfortable with her doing this and am sure the dogs are too.Is it normal and safe for her to be doing this?(she does it before labour starts,to see if they are dilating,and during the labour).

As long as she knows what shes doing its safe and not an unusual thing for breeders to do;

She is doing the same thing the midwife or Doctor would do with a pregnant human and her actions are safe and normal! A breeder knows when a b1tch is going into labour and the examination is done to make sure things are OK. The b1tches body is preparing for the birth and the vagina is very flexible
Like humans, pups also sometimes need help and you can't afford to be squeamish then. (A vet may not get there in time and emergency C-sections are dangerous and expensive)

Yes we do this. I would tell her not to check the ***** very often and without gloves on. She does not want to pass anything up that can make the ***** infected. But it is done. I have helped many with a difficult dilivery. We have to check the ***** to make sure there is not a pup in the birth canal before they are given oxytocen as well.

As strange as it sounds it pretty normal.... my aunt breeds german shepards and she does the same thing. It use to freak me out... but she said it's just like women who go into labor the nurse comes in periodically to check how far along they have dilated before labor starts ..... she said it's the same thing..... a time clock for delivery.

Yes, it's normal. Sometimes even necessary. We are "midwives" to our bit ches.

It is called a preg check and we only do it on cows. If you do it on a dog you can kill the puppies and cut of their supply from their mother and they will suffocate.

It sounds gross, but, it's normal. Breeders know what they're doing.

I wouldn't unless she's a trained vet assistant. She could do some damage.
