"But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."

So does this mean If I blaspheme against the christian god I can just go out and murder a bunch of people now since I can never be forgiven for blasphemy anyway?

On a side note, If I were in the business of making up a religion, this is exactly the thing I would add to my religion, I would have a 10% tithe and also tell the belivers that if they ever tried to leave they could never be forgiven, that's a guaranteed income stream for life.

This would mean that since Jesus taught that if you believe, and have faith the size of a mustard seed, if you say to the mountain " fall into the ocean", or to the tree " wither and die", or even fasting and prayer to dispel demons, it will happen as your faith proclaims. Ask anything, and it will be given you.
If you deny that this power exists, then that is blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.

Whoa, I wouldn't be so sure.

Look, if you mock God, you can be forgiven. If you mock Jesus, you can be forgiven. However, if you mock the Holy Spirit, you can't be forgiven of that.

To answer your second question, no. Every sin is piled on top of each other. If you repent and confess your sins, then you are totally clean. Unless you have mocked the Holy Spirit. That sin is eternal, which means it stays there no matter what.

It is the Holy Spirit that works on your conscience to convict you of sin, and of your need for forgiveness. If you sin against the Holy Spirit, you lessen its influence in your life and eventually drive it away. Without the Holy Spirit, you no longer want to repent or to be forgiven, your conscience gets numbed, you do not seek forgiveness, and therefore your sins cannot be forgiven. By rejecting the Holy Spirit, you are rejecting your means of forgiveness.

Blasphemy of the Spirit is the only unforgvieable sin (Matthew 12.31)

And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

basically, calling the Spirit of God, the spirit of the devil. Instead of giving glory to God for the miracles, the Pharisees, who were witnessing these miracles in Matthew 12 & Mark 3, they ascribed it to the devil.

hope that helps

1. God is capitalized
2. No one can answer this question for you until you are ready for an answer which you obviously are not at this time.
3. Tithing, in my church is not used to line the pockets of the preacher. We do not have a preacher, the tithing money in our church all goes to missionary work, Church welfare program to help the poor, spreading the word of God, and expanding his church.
4. When you are ready for an honest answer, pray about it with a humble heart and contrite spirit... Then contact 888-537-3377 and begin a happier life in Christ.

The Rev has it right (again!) Look at the context of the whole passage and get the story that was going on. Jesus had earlier cast out demons and was now being mobbed. Even his own family thought he was out of his mind and tried to take him away. Then the teachers of the law came from Jerusalem and said "He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons."

That led to Jesus showing how stupid their accusations were and warning them of the grave danger they were in - they risked blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. As verse 30 explains: "He said this because they were saying, 'He has an evil spirit'."

Jesus was not blatantly walking about with a neon sign flashing on his lapel, "I Am - YHWH". He was incognito because (a) his disciples needed to be led gradually into this universe-shattering truth and (b) his enemies would have had him crucified before his ministry got off the ground. But when we reflect on who it was who was being accused of being in the devil's employ, then his words of warning take on new meaning. If you don't know who Jesus is, you will disparage his words, you will fail to understand many things in the Bible, including tithing, warnings about hell, and Christ's return to earth. Thank God you can be forgiven for every foolish remark you make about him, but don't push your luck.

To be able to commit the unpardonable sin you must first get Holy Ghost baptized.
Then get a real close relation with Jesus and experience His power.
Then if you not only sin, but turn totally away from believing that Jesus and God are real, then you have done it and are lost forever!!!!

The unforgivable sin or blaspheme against the Holy Spirit can only be done by God’s elect when they are delivered up for a testimony.

Matt.12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

Luke 12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
Luke 12:11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
Luke 12:12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

Luke 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
Luke 21:13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
Luke 21:14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
Luke 21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

The unforgivable sin will not happen because that God’s elect cannot wait for the opportunity, adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

That is very foolish. It could send to hell. I would be careful what you say. You may regret it. Do what you want but it isn't coming from God, it is from the devil who usually causes blaspheme
