Yes, you may baptize your daughter in the Catholic Church.

The main complication is that you, your husband, and the godparents will all promise to bring her up as a Catholic.

Please make sure you are prepared to keep this promise.

With love in Christ.

Don't listen to the people who say that she doesn't need to be christened/baptized. Baptism will protect her soul. If your husband does not practice and you do, why don't you have her christened in the C of E? Apparently you are in England. I think a RC priest there would probably agree to do it. Just ask a Priest what you have to do, that is the logical thing to do.

wow must be a little different in the UK, in the states you wouldn't not have had to convert but rather agree to raise the children Catholic. i have to say (& might get beat up for this but....) I would go C of E for the interim. if YOU are the primary religious care giver then they should be Christened in your denomination. remind your husband of what we say at the mass.... ONE BAPTISM FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN -- this includes C of E :) Have you thought of researching the Rcc more yourself? You seem out of sorts with your CofE and maybe this would be a time for you to do a little more research and see if the Rcc will help you in your walk with Christ. either way -- use the Catechism of the Rcc to get a little more insight. You might even want to talk with your priest - unless he's the same one that told you you would have to convert to marry! here is a TV station in the US called EWTN. try their website they might have some insight too!!

The question is why you would do it. I can think of two possibilities: to pacify the family and to actually make some difference in her life.

If the former, I think you need to speak seriously to the family. I went through this myself, I can help (contact me personally). If the latter, baptism itself certainly won't do her any good - even the Catholic Church would agree. If you want to do her good, I would recommend taking her to a good church that teaches the Bible, and try to follow the Bible yourself. That's the only thing that will help her - or you for that matter. Best wishes and blessings to you.

Don't know. All I can say is talk to a preist. He may want you to take classes & attend the church. Yu can have your daughter christened -or baptised in other churches, too, you know.

These days, many priests will not baptise your child unless at least the Catholic parent is a regular church-goer. You could approach a few priests, and you might find one of the reasonable ones who would rather baptise a child regardless of what the parents do/don't do on a SUnday.

yes u can have her christened there but the god-parents have to be of catholic faith and you, both parents, have to promise to raise your kid in a roman catholic faith.

I think it should be illegal to perform religious rituals on children. Forcing your beliefs, regarding religion, on children is rather wrong. That's just me, and well, I guess without that religion wouldn't have grown to what it is today.
