How will I know if I have Hepatitis C?
In general, individuals infected with HCV are often discovered with elevated liver enzymes (blood tests) on a routine blood test or because a Hepatitis C antibody is found to be positive at the time of blood donation. In 1992, a more specific test for anti-HCV became available and eliminated some of the false positive reactions that were previously troublesome. In general, elevated liver enzymes and a positive antibody test for HCV (anti-HCV) means that an individual has chronic Hepatitis C.

Can I give the disease to others?
HCV can be transmitted through blood transfusions. Other individuals who may come in contact with infected blood, instruments, or needles, such as IV drug users, health care workers or laboratory technicians are also at risk of acquiring hepatitis C, as are those who undergo tattooing or body piercing. The risk for transmitting Hepatitis C sexually is unknown. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say there is a slight increased risk of becoming infected with Hepatitis C if you have multiple sex partners.

How does Hepatitis C develop?
In general, Hepatitis C appears to be a slowly, progressive disease that may gradually advance over 10-40 years. In one study, chronic hepatitis confirmed by liver biopsy was identified on the average of ten years following blood transfusions and cirrhosis on an average of 20 years. It also appears that HCV, like the hepatitis B virus, is associated with an increased chance of developing hepatocellular carcinoma, a type of liver cancer. Almost all HCV-related liver cancer occurs with cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver.

Is there a treatment for Hepatitis C?
The combination of interferon and ribavirin (Rebetol) is the treatment that has been approved by the FDA for Hepatitis C patients who have never had any interferon therapy and patients who have relapsed following interferon therapy. Six months after treatment, about 46 % of patients who received the combination therapy had undetectable virus levels. The recommended duration for the combination therapy is 24 weeks.

Two products that are highly effective and recommended for Hepatitis C are the world's #1 selling liver formula Liv-52 and Milk Thistle (Silymarin). The top-selling liver support formula, Liv-52, can be ordered on this page.

Hepatitus C is a very serious liver condition and it can be fatal.

It is passed from one person to another just as HIV and AIDS are passed, through sharing intravenous needles, blood and body fluids.

You should ask your doctor to check you for HEP C if your parents had it and if you are HEP C positive, depending on your level, there are measures that you can take to go into remission.

QUIT drinking alcohol, as alcohol consumption is like pouring lighter fluid directly into your liver if you're HEP C positive.

You can go on Interferon and the side effects are similar to chemotherapy and the length of treatment is normally 48 weeks.

Someone very close to me was HEP C positive and he did the Interferon treatment and followed his doctor's orders and he is now HEP C clear.

Research Naomi Judd, the country singer, as she has written extensively about HEP C and the treatments and she has an accessible website online.

Hope this helps.

Always use condoms............and be careful about cuts and blood and do not drink alcohol!

Disease: "a situation of the dwelling animal or plant frame or of one among its elements that impairs traditional functioning and is almost always manifested through distinguishing indicators and signs." According to this definition from Webster, sure this is a disorder. As a long way because the organic features, alcohol certainly impacts the frame, however I feel plenty of the time the dependancy has a more robust preserve at the mind. Any variety of addictive conduct is by and large derived from mental conditioning. Many alcoholics suppose they want alcohol to position or simply cope. I do not feel labeling alcoholism as a disorder is to make an excuse for it. I feel it's to create an concentration of the way critical it may be and that anybody with alcoholism can not with no trouble "healing" themselves, they want therapy and support. It is like telling anybody handling melancholy to "simply cheer up." It is demoralizing to inform an alcoholic to "simply give up ingesting" due to the fact making it sound adore it is whatever that are meant to be that convenient to do while, actually, it is rather intricate makes an alcoholic suppose nugatory and susceptible no longer being ready to give up their dependancy. Yes, in lots of methods, alcoholism is a alternative. If anybody does not desire support or may not admit to having a challenge, you can not support them. They must desire to support themselves.
