a large slice of luck getting him into America. If you say to Immigration you are entering America to get married he will be put on the next plane back home. You really need to check in with the American embassy in London before you make any arrangements.

Im an American citizen who married an Englishman but we were married in the UK. I believe if youre going to get married in the USA, you have to get a marriage visa from the Embassy in the UK. My best suggestion would be to get a marriage visa from the UK (recieve it in the USA) as it only takes 3 weeks. Then you can get married in the UK. Once you are married in the UK, bring your marriage license and come to the states, having him enter on a visa waiver. Keep hold of the green piece of paper they give you (your visa). Go see an American Immigration attorney who will file the paperwork for you. Once the paperwork is filed, he should be ok to stay in the states (at least this is how it went for us). Your husband will recieve a work visa (so he can get his ss number) in about 6 to 8 weeks. After that there will be a hearing in the US in about a year for his green card.
With all that said, you can get a civil ceremony for marriage in the local council office in the UK and then have a proper wedding here (you just wouldnt have to sign a marriage certificate). The UK visas are much easier and much quicker to get than the US visas. You may want to double check all this first but we are going through all this at the moment. (Youll pay about $3000 for an american attorney)

I'm not sure of the procedure but a friend married an american and they made it really hard for them, she had to pledge their national anthem or something, and she wouldn't so they got married in the uk x
