The problem is that your cigarettes are tempting him. He is a nicotine addict and you are unintentionally waving his addiction in front of his nose...impossible! It's a no win situation. My heart tells me to tell you to stop smoking. I stopped when I developed scars on my lungs many years ago. Don't wait til then. Good luck!

Tell him what a bother this is. After all, you're in an adult relationship, if you can't explain that 'I support you in this time, but your constant asking for a cigarette is making me feel crazy." then your relationship is on a rocky place already.
Tell him the truth, ask him to stop asking. Support him otherwise and make sure he knows you do.

Stop smoking yourself or don't smoke around him...or get more of those non-smoking patches or gum...they work, right?
