I wouldn't do it, either. Call your mother and see what she says.
You don't want to be responsible if anything does go wrong. (Although not likely) I'm sure that giving an enema was not in the job description. Just tell the mother that you've never done that before and you're not comfortable with it.
Good luck!

thats a really bizarre thing to ask a babysitter to do. She needs to deal to the CAUSE of his constipation! But for now, lie him on his left side, take the cap off the end of the enema, smear KY jelly or some other lubricant on the shaft, gently insert it into his rectum and squeeze it until the fluid has left the enema capsuleMaybe in front of the tele would distract him, or get his brother to distract him, yoju will need to be relatively quick.Keep him still and lying down, maybe read him a story until he needs to poo. Good luck! Its not good to keep giving kids enemas though, so make sure you ask her why, and encourage her to deal to the cause not the effect!

I dont know. I dont think that is a good idea. I have a 2 and 5 year old and have never given them a enema. Maybe just try and give him some veggies like pea, carrots, or anything with fiber. Popcorn is good too.

The mother put you in an uncomfortable situation. If the child is not in PAIN, I'd wait till mom comes home. But if you can see the child is in distress, I'd call the mom and tell her she needs to come home, that you've never done this and don't feel comfortable. If the mom acts disgusted with you, don't be the sitter anymore. If you're young, make sure to inform your own mother also.

No. That can wait until the mother comes home. I wouldn't want a babysitter giving my child an enema. No way.

If this is something that happens all the time, the mother needs to take him to the doctor.

Do not give him the enema.

Apple Juice is a great laxative. Just give him some in a sippy cup.

They'd better be paying you a lot more than $3/hr. Wow.

Sounds like the kid is used to it. Just tell him what you are doing and read the box.
