The sperm is viable for about two days. The egg is also viable for about two days. Any time that the sperm and egg overlap during that window of viability can result in fertilization and pregnancy. So, the sperm was deposited Sat. night and will be viable through Monday night. If you ovulated Monday night, then it is possible that the two could have met somewhere in your fallopian tubes and fertilization resulted. Then the fertilized egg, or embryo would travel down to your uterus for implantation. Only then are you considered to be truly pregnant. Without implantation, the embryo is simply sloughed off with the rest of the menses.
