The people that say don't do it are well....wrong.
They make a formula called ENFAMIL AR--- added rice people!!!!!!
So, yes, you can, just start off with a little at a time. (They also make Y shapped nipples for thicker formula) Just don't put so much in that its chewy :)
My children were all on enfamil AR, and i even added rice to that. It was around two or three months. I would say if you are making an 8 oz bottle, use 1 scoop of rice, or maybe a little less to start.
People do it all the time. If you are still not so sure, just run it past your doc.
Good luck!!!

YES! at 3-4 months I began the cereal. To prevent constipation start out with 1oz of cereal to a 4-6 oz bottle then bump up the cereal a little each week if your baby is enjoying it. Cereal can stop up the system in a heart beat so be carefull. I found that it helped my babies sleep a little better through the night too.
Well wishes for you and your baby :)

I started adding a tablespoon to 8oz bottle at around 2 months, only because he was NEVER satisfied. At 3 months I did 2 tablespoons. and at six months I eyeballed it when it was a little bit thicker. He liked the taste and for snacks I would mix applesauce and rice cereal or oatmeal cereal and he liked it too.
I would not give more than one tablespoon in 8oz before 2 months old, or more than twice a day, it can overdo it for a baby that young.
My pediatrician said this method was safe and ok, once the cereal mix gets thick enough it is no longer runny it doesnt need to be in a regular bottle, but in a cereal bottle, to prevent choking and strangling on it.

i started my kids at 3 months with formula you can use water too. use a small bowl and put in enough that you have about a half inch of it after its made. you'll want it a little soupy; if it's too thick it will constipate the baby. you can increase the amount as the baby gets older. when the child is old enoung to drink jucie and not get the runs you can use that instead of formula. and at a year old whole milk unless the dr. says otherwise. but inbetween feedings you can give the baby a bottle of formula and they will probably take less of that as they will have a full tummy. if you try this and the little one does get constipated give the baby apple juice trust me it works about 2 to 4 ounces depending on on bad it is; i usaully use 3 oz.

People do this when they don't think their baby is sleeping long enough. The thought being that the thicker liquid settles in the baby's tummy, making them feel full and sleep longer.
It doesn't really work like that. If your baby is crying at night. Choose to ignore it and let the baby learn to sleep or get up and nurse or give a formula bottle. Cereal is unhealthy for young babys. They are not ready for it.

Not in the bottle, there are risks of choking and your baby just doesn't need it!
At 4 months (and after the green light from your child's pediatrician) you can start with a slushy mixture and work your way up to more consistency.

NO.......Don't do it.
Some people do, but i was told by a health nurse not to do it, it can cause chocking and such. Its just not good to do.
My health nurse also said it was a lazy thing to do.
