I have a cleaning lady in my crib right now, cleaning her *** off. She's doing a fab job, she is polite and has a sweet personality. She came from an agency but I'm hoping to hire her "off the books" in future. The overall cleaning is costing $90. My crib is a bad mess so she really has to put in work. How much should I tip her?

I have the same housekeeper every other week. I tip her once a year at Christmas equal to one week's cleaning. Since you are using a service that changes the people that is neither prudent nor practical. You cannot be certain the person who cleaned your home that week is doing a job worthy of a tip. I use a cleaning service for my rentals that does the same thing, so I have a lunch sent over to the office on the day that they have their weekly meeting to say, "thank you" for your service throughout the year. (I called the office and they suggested it, I've done it ever since during the week after Christmas, before the New Year.)

Tip her as much as you feel like. This is one of the questions that you don't need to listen to other's opinions to arrive at an answer. You can tip her $1, $5, $10, or even $50. It's your desicion. It's your life. The more you tip, the more you feel good for yourself for heing kind.

If you really wanted a suggestion, i'd tip her $20.

I would probably tip her 10. I mean there is nothing that says you have to tip a cleaning person but as you said your place is a mess so an extra 10 in her pocket is good.

Well, for the most part, she is getting paid to do her job. However, I worked as a cleaning lady in a hotel, and when I had rooms that were significantly messier, I really appreciated something extra. If you think that your place is alot more work to clean than her average gig, I would say an extra 10-20 bucks. She probably isnt expecting it, and it will make her day.

I found a site that said maids should be tipped nothing, except at Christmas time. For the holiday time frame you should tip one week's pay. This is for maids in your employ whom you pay directly. If you use a service and never know who is coming out, don't tip at all.
If you felt that she did more work and a better job then the rest, I would make sure she knows that, and slip her a $10.

My cleaning lady charges me $50 every other week, I pay her an additional $10 because my house is always a mess.

How many times a week does she clean? How long does it take her? I would tip 30%.

It's customary to leave 15% for any personal service provider...such as waiter/ waitress......If it's a real mess as you say on a $90.00 tab I'd, spring an even twenty.......

tipping her is not required, or expected.....if you want to give her a bonus go for it....i'd just give her an even $100 maybe....
