Currently I lost 4 pounds since I started going to a gym 2 weeks ago (I started at 190 and now I'm 186) but this morning at the gym, something discouraged me. Today was my first session with my personal trainer and he thought I weigh only 150. When I told him I weigh much more than that and showed him by weighing in front of him, he was really surprised. I don't have too much fat on me (the only place I know I got flab is that annoying pouch underneath the navel) but I feel that maybe my large frame and muscle is the reason why I weigh so much. My thighs are big because though it's toned, it's full of muscle.

So I don't know how much I should really weigh? I want to lose weight but do I need to lose muscle to do so? I know I can't be a size 2 (my large frame and large chest won't let me) but I want to look healthy for my frame. Thanks in advance.

PS: Yes, I've been eating healthy and drinking plenty of water too.

Have your personal trainer check your body fat percentage. There is no point me saying aim for 160lb or less if your body fat percentage is already good.

Basically, if your body fat percentage is less than 30%, that is acceptable and not overfat, but it would be up to you whether you would want to lose more body fat. If your body fat percentage is below 25%, then that is an ideal level of fitness for a female. HTH : )

I am about the same size and looking to lose about 30 lbs. 160 would be a healthy and achievable goal without starving yourself. Keep up the good work. I am 25 and people think I weigh less than what I do too.

Please remember one thing: your weight is not an issue as long as it is due to bone and *muscle*. Your weight is a problem ONLY if you have too much fat.

Why on earth should you want to lose HEALTHY weight???? You probably are just athletic and a mesomorph. ENJOY IT!

how much you weigh is not as important as how much body fat you have. you should be aiming for a body fat percentage that is less than average for your gender and age group.
