My husband and I are expecting our first child at the beginning of July. We have decided not to find out the sex of the baby. Any ideas out there for a gender-neutral nursery? It would be even more helpful if you guys have pictures or links to share. Thanks in advance!

Lots of people like pastels, but I think this is easier to achieve with primaries. I used Winnie the Pooh. It has a lot of red, yellow, green, blue, etc. and my son loved the bright colors, especially in the Pooh balloons. Then you can get brave and paint the Pooh treehouse on the wall. If you use pencil or colored chalk for the outline first and then paint, it's not too hard. Remember to ventilate real good. I didn't know I was having a boy, and Pooh did it very well for me. I hope this helps you. Forgot to add, that afterwards you can elaborate the piglet pink for a girl or blue for a boy. I just noticed your screen name.... lol.....

you've already gotten so many good ideas.

of course you could do the typical cartoon characters,
winnie the pooh, sesame street, sponge bob, etc.

but i prefer something more original and something magical-
ultimately it should be personal to your family.
maybe handsewn curtains or a blanket that your grandmother made or some old doodles or drawings from when you or
your spouse was a kid in picture frames in the nursery or
painted on the wall. pick something that is special to you
and build your room around it.

i actually like bringing the outside in, use colors from nature-
you could stencil or free hand some clouds on the ceiling or walls and maybe a tree and some grass, a bunny, some wild flowers, etc.
add a few stuffed animals in a little wicker chair, some light airy
curtains, a picnic style basket for storage.

a country theme would be really cute too stencil or free hand
a little picket fence, a wagon, some baby chicks, etc.
some checkered curtains, a little wooden bench with storage underneath-maybe a little cushion or pillows made from the
same checkered material as the curtains, a wagon with little
stuffed farm animals that the baby could take rides in later.

a fairytale theme with a castle or just a moon and some stars
stenciled on the ceiling or walls.

be creative, involve family and friends, maybe you know someone that could do your free hand drawings for you
and someone else to paint, maybe you or your spouse has
things from your own childhood that you can incorporate
even an old truck or doll or both would be really cute on a little shelf whether the baby is female or male.

congratulations!!!

There's some really nice neutral colors that will go with blue or pink. Find a couple you like(Autumn Gold/Meadow Green/) for instance. New Parents = getting tons of stuff for the New Baby.Face It ! You're not going to be able to SEE the walls. Congratulations on your new arrival & have fun decorating

I noticed your screen name is Pooh Bear.....Target has a very cute Pooh Bear line of nursery items right now that are gender neutral. Here is the link for the page containing the items. It's the Classic Pooh not Disney version. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_2/602-0722785-1613402?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0006Q99QY
They also have some really cute Pooh newborn clothes now as well. Have fun whatever you decide on! They grow up way too fast.

How about just purchasing things that will go with your bedroom stuff and don't worry about a whole different color scheme for the baby. Once you move, you'll only have a year or so before the baby starts to need a bigger bed so you can choose a more appropriate color scheme for linens then. If the actual furniture is made of stained wood or white, it will go with all color schemes

How about a pale mint and pale mint green theme? It would look so pretty.

You could do little pale yellow duckies, chicks, etc,

An animal theme! Could be zoo, underwater, jungle, savanna, or even suburban creatures you feature.

I would go with white and yellow...a wram buttery yellow...and add small details when youknow what you are bringing home. Any chance it is one of each?
