Throughout the bible the males get all the glory the females are usually a afterthought almost like cattle, could this be because all societies at that time were strictly patriarchal and men control every faucet of life.

If Jesus and his father God are males would they not need a female God because without a female the concept of male makes no sense and vice versa.

The Catholic Church believes that God transcends the human distinction between the sexes. But he only allows men to be priests. The Catholics believe that the woman came from the rib of the man. As you know, the rib is a cheaper cut of meat. I think men are better and I chose a boyfriend to make my life happier.

With love in the pope.

God is considered a Him because that's how He wanted the bible written. This stuff about females being utter nothingness is contradictory to what the Bible says about women. Women were the first ones to do half of the good things that happened in the Bible. God is also seen as the authority figure, leader and Father. It must be stressed that God cannot be put into human terms very well since he is not human. Our understanding of Him can only go so far.

Well God is considered a he because He is the father of Jesus and Mary is the mother of Jesus. Now last time I checked you could only be the birth father if you were male. There is a female in the equation of Jesus because his mother was Mary.

It is not that he could not do it on his own it is the way he choose for his son to come into this world. He could have done it the same way he created Adam and Eve but he choose for Jesus to be born into this world to fulfill prophesy. You see the virgin birth was a fulfillment of prophesy. So the importance of woman fulfilled divine prophesy.

God doesn't have a gender. the reason its written as him as that the only other option would be her. if it was written as "her," more attention would be brought to the gender. in many languages the plural of a group is used in its masculine sense even if there is only one male with many females. it doesn't mean anything.

The Catholic Church believes that God transcends the human distinction between the sexes.

The Jewish male-dominated society influenced the tradition of referring to God as male.

However, the same Jewish tradition refers to the Wisdom of God as female. Christians would call Her the Holy Spirit.

The Bible actually as several images of God as female:

Genesis 1:26-27 Women and Men created in God’s image

“Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness…So God created humankind in God’s image, in the image of God s/he created them; male and female God created them.”

Hosea 11:3-4 God described as a mother

God: “Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, I who took them up in my arms; but they did not know that I healed them. I led them with cords of human kindness, with bands of love. I was to them like those who lift infants to their cheeks. I bent down to them and fed them.”

Hosea 13:8 God described as a mother bear

God: “I will fall upon them like a bear robbed of her cubs…”

Deuteronomy 32:11-12 God described as a mother eagle

“As an eagle stirs up its nest, and hovers over its young as it spreads its wings, takes them up and bears them aloft on its pinions, the Lord alone guided him…”

Deuteronomy 32:18 God who gives birth

“You were unmindful of the Rock that bore you; you forgot the God who gave you birth.”

Isaiah 66:13 God as a comforting mother

God: “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”

Isaiah 49:15 God compared to a nursing mother

God: “Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.”

Isaiah 42:14 God as a woman in labor

God: “For a long time I have held my peace, I have kept myself still and restrained myself; now I will cry out like a woman in labor, I will gasp and pant.”

Jeremiah 44:25 Queen of Heaven

“Thus says…the God of Israel: You and your wives have accomplished in deeds what you declared in words, ‘We are determined to …make offerings to the queen of heaven and to pour out libations to her.’ By all means, keep your vows and make your libations!”

Psalm131:2 God as a Mother

“But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; my soul is like the weaned child that is with me.”

Psalm 123:2 God compared to a woman

“As the eyes of a servant look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, until God has mercy on us.”

Matthew 23:37 and Luke 13:34 God as a Mother Hen

Jesus: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!”

Luke 15:8-10 God as woman looking for her lost coin

Jesus: “Or what woman having ten silver coins, is she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

With love in Christ.
