I have bought two types of battey powered automatic feeders - a round one with 5 sections that turns automatically, and a Le Bistro unit with a digital timer and automatic dispenser. She has figured out how to get food out of both of these. Are there any feeders that are cat tampering proof? Is there a way to cure my cat of overeating? Thank you!

Perhaps you need to feed her on a daily basis without the automated feeders. Please persevere and do not let the the cat have its own way.Take advice from your vet on the matter and it will improve in time

Instead of feeding her when she begs why don't you try playing a game with her for at least one half hour, that will take her mind off of food and give the cat some physical activity, which in turn will help the wieght problem. Also instead the fancy food machines put the food out for one hour at night and one hour in the the morning or measure an amount and leave it. Make sure your cat gets wet food it has more real meat and protein and that could be what your cat is really needing. Good luck. I have two cats and I'm at the point where I'm able to leave dry food out all the time and lots of fresh water that's really important for your pet. But really try playing with her and do it for three weeks straight it takes three weeks to break a habit or form a new one. good luck.

Instead of an automatic feeder, consider feeding her smaller amounts throughout the day. For instance, if she is supposed to take 1/2 cup in morn, and 1/2 cup at night, feed her 1/4 cup 4 time a day or stick to the 1/2 in morn and 1/2 at night. This looks like the only way your clever kitty will go on a diet! GOOD LUCk

Mine have a drop feeder that lasts about a week that is filled with an appropriate feed for fat kitties. The thin cat gets treats that the fat cat doesn't. WE keep fat cat busy while thin cat eats. Fat cat has lost weight because even though the food is there all the time, it's boring. In my experience, if the proper food is there all the time, they do not overeat, and if the food is not interesting, they will only eat what they need.

i had this same problem. i have 2 cats, one is younger/more energetic, the other is older and FAT! they were eating out of a self feeder.

i ended up having to just feed them twice a day, and actually sitting there while they ate. if not, then one cat would eat the other's food. so, basically, the bad news is that you will have to work harder to maintain your pet!

you could also supplement her daily routine with exercise!

Science Diet makes a food for over eaters. The food is a much larger size and makes the cat feel like it has had more to eat because they can't scarf it down as fast and has to chew it up longer.

do not confer with them once you feed them... or you in consumer-friendly words are worthwhile the habit. I don;t comprehend if you're feeding them dry or moist food, yet dry is more effective useful and in the experience that they are skinny i don't believe of it really is a project to leave food out each of the time. they'd have worms so seem ahead to that good success

Just feed her smaller amounts yourself and lock up her food. LOL
