No necessarily. Some girls start their periods before are developed or have any pubic hair. Others develop but don't get their periods until they are 15 or 16 years old.
Try to remember what age you were when you got your first period. The timing betewen mothers and daughters is usually very similiar.

Girls often get pubic hair up to 2 years before starting but she may very well get it at 10. Many of my daughters friends got it at 10.

I think the best thing to do is to sit back and wait. There's no way of knowing for sure. Just PLEASE be sure she's ready. If you haven't already explain to her what it is. I don't envy you, lol. My son is 8 and he is already starting to really look at the girls [well, actually women] on t.v. and say "WOW!" lol it's very uncomfortable for me. I think kids are just maturing earlier every generation. But even though she does have these things that make her appear older than she is remember she's still a 9 year old. I would just have her prepared for her period just in case. Explain it to her so she understand and won't panic if there's any blood in her panties. That's very scary.

I wouldn't worry too much, but be cautious anyway. I have a ten yr old who was born with pubic hair, now she has under arm hair. I panicked when I first saw the pubic hair!! Don't be too worried though. How old were you when you first got yours? It would be close to your age most likely. My 12 yr old got hers the same age I did. 12, she'll be 13 in March. Good luck though!!!

Maybe, maybe not. Doesn't help much does it?
Nine is a bit earlier than most to start getting the pubes. She needs to have the talk. Good book like "What's Happening to my Body". That will help get the conversation going.
She needs to be prepared for what is to come, sooner or later. Breasts, periods, hips, and weight gain. Early puberty tends to escalate weight gain.
Good luck.

It could be. I started my period at the end of my 4th grade year, and I got breast and pubic hair before hand. Just talk to her in case.

It all depends. Just because she has pubic hair doesnt mean her period will follow. Be on the look out regardless.

Our doctor said to expect it up to two years later, so could be any time. She also said that it wouldn't be bamm...start and have a period every month regularly. It could be a few months apart and such when she starts.
My daughter is nine, and definitely has breast and hair...she hasn't started menses but already has cramps every month. Good luck.
