I believe that back in the day the government was looking for more ways to rip off the people. They were owed money by farmers and forced them to make up the difference to pay off the debt. They came up with this scam to make holes in this new cheese they created and charge more money. More profit for less product. Viva America!

Nice theory...but why would they single out the swiss only as the culprit name for the holey cheese? What about the British Cheese?

Oh, Please, give me a break. Cheese is sold by weight, not volume. look at the lable, for Christ's sake. Of all the conspiracy theorys I've heard of, this is the most ridiculous one yet. Not to say there aren't conspiracys, but this is pityful. Swiss cheese has holes in it. you don't pay for the air, in this case.

BRAVO! All i can say to that is wow! talk about thinking outside the box on that one....i thought i had a mind full of useless trivial thoughts, but i dont believe that thought would have occurred to me in a million years...of course it might be because i dont care much for swiss cheese, so my lack of caring might be the main factor on that one.
