Hi dear, so my answer - do not do permanent dying. If you are medium blonde now and you have never had dark brown colour before, try a shampoo at first. It will last for a week approximatelly and you´ll see how it fits you. If you´ll like it, you can use something longer lasting, if not you will have to wait just for a week to wash it away.

We can't really say whether or not the color is going to look good on you, but there are sites as another answerer mentioned where you can upload your pic and see yourself with different hairstyles or colors. If you just want to go for it, I would suggest using a level 1 or 2 color first, as opposed to a permanent one. That way if you don't like it, the color will be gone in a few weeks anyway. Clairol Natural Instincts is a good one. They have some pretty shades, and it leaves your hair feeling healthy (unlike many permanent dyes). Hope that helps!

As it is the first time i would recomend using a wash in wash out hair dye then you can experiment as much as you want and it will wash out after a few washes. You can then progress to a semi permanent which will last about 6 weeks. I hope this helps oh and chocolate browns are really nice.

Wait for it to fade or grow out or bleach it back blonde and ruin your hair ! Why not try a PC program where you upload a pic of yourself and change the colour of your hair, you can get them in WHSmith I got one for £5 its called Virtual Makeover 2. Try online whs.co.uk I think, as it was cheaper online than in the shop.

I have always heard you should not dye your hair more than 2 shades lighter or darker then your original hair color.
If you are doing this yourself it could turn out to be a nighmare. I did this once and it was really bad.
If you want to go darker I would recommend you go to a salon in your area. Or if you have a beauty school they are good too and at a lower price. I get my hair done there and it saves me so much money and I know they are supervised and offer great services. I have always loved the outcome.

use a wash in wash out coulourant, as if u dont like it, it'll wash out and it won't damage ur hair in the process. If u are really unsure i'd say visit ur hair-dressers, as they can give the best advice. If u did dye ur hair with permenent dye, the only way u will get it out is either to let it grow out or bleach it back to blonde, thou this will damage ur hair, whether u like it or not, and if uve never bleached ur hair before then it can be tricky, as u have to do the sensitivity test and strand test before attempting to touch it. If in doubt visit ur hairdressers.

do a 8-12 stage one wash-out to test the color to see it you like it.
but my honest suggestion, don't go with red. it's harder to get out, sticks to the hair folical more than browns, and tends to turn blondes a little too strawberry for their liking. neutral browns are a better choice. don't go with a dark brown at first, as darker colors last longer and leave more residue on the folical.

best of luck!

Have changed my colour so many times, but originally I started with the wash-in/wash-outs. They are easy to use and don't last that long. Gives you choices if you want permanent, then would recommend going to a salon to be on the safe side....
Good Luck
