I'm talking about a spanking on the bottom. Not smacking a child in the face or abusing a child.

Not any state I will ever live in. It is my PARENTAL RIGHT to Discipline my child by spanking there little bottoms WHEN I SEE FIT and nobody is ever going to tell me I'm wrong. Both of my children are healthy, loved and pretty well behaved. They know right from wrong, but act like little kids. By that I mean they are still innocent, fun loving, cheerful, quizitful, and silly. Spanking them has not made them hard, disrespectful, or made them grow up any faster then they have to. My kids know that I am there parent and not just there friend, and NO GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL IS EVER GOING TO TAKE AWAY MY RIGHT TO BE A REAL PARENT.

I don't think that it's actually illegal to "spank" a child in any state. However, child abuse laws tend to be ambiguous as to how they define abuse, and leave a lot of leeway for child protective services to create their own definitions, which often include spanking in some form. Often, it's the actual agent assigned to a case that determines, on their own definitions, if action should be taken.

There are states, however, that forbid corporal punishment in schools.

Not according to the link below. However, every state defines abuse differently. Generally your safe if you only spank the bottom, and never leave permanent marks such as bruises, welts... other then a red behind. I can't say i disagree with that either, I can give a real good spanking w/o leaving any permanent marks. So if you bruise them, your most likely crossing the line.

Good luck

Not in any state is it illegal for a parent or guardian to spank their child.

In the majority of states it is now illegal for schools to paddle students.

I live in Massachusetts. Last session there was a bill in the legislature to outlaw parental spanking. You would expect this in a moonbat state like I live in. Anyway, I was afraid I would have to take my kids across state line to discipline them:) It really is not funny however--I whole heartedly agree with the answerer above me.

Probably! That is what is wrong with our society today. The government has taken away parental rights and given them to CPS (NAZIS)!!! Our kids are out of control! And parents, teachers, coaches, etc., are terrified of the CPS NAZIS. I know that there are abused kids all over and I am NOT talking about them. If the majority of these little brats would have gotten their hineys smacked when they were younger, we would not be afraid of TEENAGERS. And you know what else...these spoiled heathens are going to be in charge of our country very soon...scary isn't it! THANK YOU LIBERAL DEMOCRATS AND CPS NAZIS !!! I worked for a county attorney in this area a few years ago. We had a 15 yr old girl whose parents divorced and moved to two different states and left this kid to fend for herself. Well do you think CPS got involved...hell no. She lived where and with whom she could. But if I swat my kid at the grocery store for stealing, CPS would be right up my a##. ANd there's not a f*cking thing anyone can do....
