Smelling strong chemicals and hurt your body... I'd stay away from any strong odors that might come from the bleach. http://www.otherhealth.com/archive/index.php/t-7757.html
What hurts you will affect the baby as well....however you have a great husband that cares..

I know that inhaling chemicals has a potential to be harmful to you, and your baby, but I don't have a clue as to whether or not a toilet bowl cleaner would be harmful. I certainly think it wouldn't be if it doesn't specify it on the packaging to not use while pregnant.
BUT - your husband is being over protective of you and your child. My husband does the exact same thing. Ever since we found out I was pregnant he hasn't let me lift a thing that weighs more than ten pounds or clean the bathrooms, fearing the chemicals will harm us. I used to argue with him but then I realized he feels left out - because my body is doing "all the work," he wants to take care of me and our baby just as much as I am, and this is his way of doing so. So I gave in and I don't lift anything, and he cleans the bathrooms (honestly it's a nice break!), as well as other things around the house that he deems "unnecessary" for a pregnant woman to be doing! It really is sweet, albeit a tad annoying.

I don't know if the smell is bad or not... Keep in mind women have been cleaning (with bleach) and pregnant for centuries... I'm 3 1/2 months along and I humor my husband and "feed his ego" as often as possible - it makes him feel like more of an active role in the pregnancy. Plus it gives me a break! Ask him to clean the toilet from now on... (Although it seems with guys, that's something you still need to go over after they're "help"). Might as well just get rid of it to be safe.

That really is super sweet.
Remember that anything that you inhale or that can be absorbed through your skin, will at some point reach your baby, if your body doesn't fully filter it out. So you have to be careful. Might as well ditch the flush-o-matic for now.
Just touching cat fecal matter can cause birth defects. If that is true then you know that your unborn baby is influenced by everything you do, to some extent.
Best of Luck!

I don't think I have ever heard of bleach smells affecting an unborn child but it's much better to be safe than sorry! Humor your husband and get rid of the drop in cleaner.
p.s. it's sweet that he's so worried about the baby and you!!! :o)

No, I seriously doubt it will harm the baby. I mean there's no way, I don't think. I've been pregnant quite a few times [5] and I've never heard anything like that. Ask your doctor if you're really worried. But I seriously doubt it.
I agree that it's very nice he's so worried.

Why do men think they are always right? I would think it would not be harmful to you. Now if you were cleaning with a lot of bleach and cleaners, something that is breathed in, then yes.

It is always better to be safe than sorry. You should just have him remove it, since you really should not be around any strong chemicals and odors. And best wishes for you and your husband on this very happy occasion!

How exactly are "we" expecting and "we" about 10 weeks? Is he pregnant too?
The smell is unlikely to harm your baby. You should probably not handle the tablets when it is time to put in a new one, but the smell should cause a problem.
