I was doing 84 in a 65 zone, and the cop wrote me up for the 84. How harsh will my penalty be? I have no accidents and one speeding ticket about 2 years ago. I also havent had traffic school in the past 18 months.

In Michigan where I live you can no longer take it under advisement, which is basically saying fly straight and your record will be fine but if you mess up, your past record will reflect your future, You can expect a hefty fine, I do mean hefty, and points, you may be sent before a magistrate who only handles traffic, and you go in a small room with the mag and PO and negotiate, It depends on your city, judge, and PO, if he wrote you for the 84 more than likely he's balls to the walls about carrying out the law, good luck, really

You might have a choice to go to traffic school and have it taken off your record or pay a fine. Depends on where you are. I am in MN and usually they would just have you pay a fine for this probably in the $150-200 range.
