In my state it is the state tax of the entire price. For example our state tax is 6% on everything, so if you buy a car for $10,000 you will have to pay $600 tax.

hi.
six months for my astra cost £90 for six months
& £110 for the year
you need a valid mot certificate and insurance to buy tax.
if you arent sure then ask in your local post office they will tell you
