You should check into Phuket of Koh Samui.
I stayed on Phuket on Ban Tao beach. There on a number of resorts (all very nice and relatively inxpensive). And they tend to be very quiet and relaxing. If you are looking for peace and quiet avoid Patong if you go to phuket , that is where the wild nightlife tends to be.

I really liked Ko Lanta when I was there a couple years ago. It's a couple hour boat ride from Krabi and nice and secluded. We really enjoyed staying at a little place towards the end of the island. Had a great meal overlooking the ocean as the sun set and chatted with local kids who were our servers about life in other parts of the world.
More recently, I was to Rai Leh and liked that too but it's a bit more built up.

Hi!
If U're looking for quiet places without many tourists, and still cheap, think about Koh Lipe !
It's an very little island deep down, near the Malaysian waters on the west side of Thailand (Under Koh Lanta most well-knowned, and near Koh Tarutao)
Nearest airport is Hat Yai (direct flights to/from BKK) + bus to Pakbara + boats to KL !
It's a remote island, has everything you want in your question !

Koh Chang Island , lonely beach at the Lemon Resort has your name on it. You can get bungalows for about 150 Baht/night (100 if you stay a week) with hot water. If you work out a deal with Patrick (the owner) you can probably get your meals for another 200 baht per day. Here is the number to use in Thailand, Lemon Resort 01 002 1845 Email is :handsomeboy2@hotmail.com,
To get to Koh chang you can take a mini bus from the air port or a government bus from the east bus terminal.

I highly recommend Koh Tao. You'll need to fly to Koh Samui and take a ferry from there Koh Tao is commonly referred to as "turtle island" because of the turtles you can see swimming. I've stayed in Koh Samui and Phuket and this is by far the least crowded and most beautiful. We stayed in Koh Tao Cabanas and it was inexpensive and on a cliff overlooking the water. It was the best experience I had in Thailand.

Well, not a beach but I live in Central Thailand - - it is pleasant and far quieter than any of the tourist places.. and certainly cheaper too - if you want info on this area, email me, but
if you want beach, you might head down the Gulf, south of Hua hin.. - Baan Sapaan is nice and you won't see many tourists..
