I have been talking to a guy online whom I see to have so much in common with. I am not on the same level with him ecomomically or career wise and he is a 14 years older than me but we seem to have similiar personalities. After reading his profile I see the similarities in what we want and our preferring small groups and not being party people. He says he is shy till he gets to know a person, and I am the same way. We chatted a few times and now he hasn't written. I checked and found that he has changed his profile to limit his search to his town (which is rather small and doesn't have much for singles, as he stated at the beginning of his profile). He is only 30 miles from me but not willing to date anyone who lives very far. The funny thing is that he has set his limits for meeting to some restaruants which happen to be only 5 blocks from where I live and work. I would be willing to walk the 5 blocks to meet him if it is an issue to drive the extra 5 blocks.

I told him he should be more open to meeting as I myself used to limit myself to my area but have learned that being more open increases your chances of meeting someone. Actually I contacted him first and just few months ago I wouldln't have considered someone over 10 miles away so why can't he be more open?

Just keep trying, sweetheart. That's all you can do, the rest is up to him.

14 years older is nothing, it's just a number but he might just be limiting his dating area for one of many reasons. I too limit my dating area. I'm too old to be bar hopping and I don't drink. I don't drive (I have no desire to drive any more), my last long term relationship with the woman of my dreams ended in her having an affair with her boss and for the past 12 years, I just haven't been able to trust women whole heartily. If you want to date him, you'll have to be the one to go see him, make him realize your potential and hope he will drive to see you.

Good luck, I hope you get what you want.

Sounds like he doesn't want to get with you for some reason. It also sounds as if you are trying to make it sound like there is something wrong with him because of it. Being picky may mean it takes longer to find someone, but it also means you don't waste time on people that you don't want. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him setting his OWN criteria for his OWN dates. Move on.

Girl, move on. Obviously not that great of a catch. I have a thing for older men too, and really they are just as screwed up as guys your own age. Just keep looking and GOOD LUCK

It may be possible that he doesn't think the two of you are a good match.

Give him time, back off, and see what happens.

He stopped writing for a reason. If you want to pursue it, ask him why. Otherwise, keep looking.
