I have no problem with Islam, or Christianity, or Buddhism or ....... <-insert any religion here.
I have a problem with intolerant, and ignorant people.
And unfortunately the most harmful people who are intolerant and ignorant follow the Islamic religion. I have a problem with these people, and their religious leaders.
I have no doubt that the majority of Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people.
I also have no doubt that the most violent group of people who cause terror are basing their actions on Islam.
Now, to answer your questions:
Hate for Islam: Because ignorant non-believing people associate the religion to the actions of terrorists.
Misunderstanding: Because we have no need to learn about Islam, because it doesn't help us in any way. The only information we get about Islam is from the terrorists, since the voice of the peaceful Muslims are not heard here. Therefore our misunderstanding is great.

1. Saying non believers is an insult. Quit it.
2. Most of those people are Americans. There, I said it. And its true. Their hatred has been brought on by both Christianity and 9/11 and its only gotten worse, not better. So, rather than blaming those responsible for the actions, they're blaming everyone involved in that little subsect of society (honestly, very typically American. That behavior isn't something new).
Having said that, my husband is American, as are all his family and friends and I've spent the last 6 years travelling back and forth between my country and his. I even lived in the US for 6 months.
We're working on bringing me down there. Why? Because thats where the money is.
No, I don't hate Americans. In fact, I love them. Their passion, their strength in adversity, and even their aggressiveness. The thing I don't like is the arrogance that often comes from the people in the country.
Not all of them are like that, its true. But enough are that those that are simply wonderful people go almost unnoticed.

Because of what happens in nations where Islam takes control of the government. The Saudis are funding mosques being built in predominately non-Islamic countries, and demanding that ability to do so unobstructed, but how many churches or for that matter how many bibles do they allow into their country? It is PERFORMANCE, it is DEEDS not words that influence people, what they have seen Islam do as it spreads across the world, is only appealing to people who believe in Islam. Tolerance is a two way street.

Jesus said a tree shall be known by it's fruit. A good tree can not produce bad fruit and a bad tree can not produce good fruit.
Most of the things I see from organized Islam is bad fruit. Marrying a 6 year old girl is criminal, strapping on a bomb and blowing up other people because of a dispute, criminal, issuing an fatwa condemning someone to death because of a book criminal, teaching young children that Jews are apes and pigs, criminal, Condemning someone to death because the convert to another religion, criminal. Destroying statues of Buddha that are thousands of years old because of a fatwa, criminal, mobs of Muslims killing Christians and Buddhists because they are considered infidels, criminal, rioting all over the world over a cartoon of Mohammad, criminal. Actions speak louder than words my friend and the world would be a much safer place if there was no Islam!

You're painting with a broad brush. Not ALL "non-believers" have a "problem with islam" (sic).
People have "hate" and "misunderstand" due to a lack of education, whether chosen or not.

i dont have a problem with islam, I have a problem with people who claim to be the perfection of gods will.
No man is perfect no religion is uncorruptible.
What matters in ALL religions, is to believe in God. And since NO ONE alive has spoken to god and sat down to eat dinner with HIM, no one can truly SAY they know what he has said or will say.
NO ONE.
Now with that said, I have seen Jesus christ, and to me jesus is the name of the Messiah in My english language even though it is Greek.
to a muslim he is just a prophet, not the son of God. I believe the bible clearly teaches the he is the son of God and one of the 3 that reign in heaven and part of the godhead.
I believe that ALL people everywhere who achieve PERFECTION and are worthy to be ascended or raptured or taken out of mortal existence can and will be, if they truly complete the assigned and agreed upon missions in thier life.
Repenting of sin and believing in the saviour is the paramount first obstacle to overcoming the worldly the carnal and the unbelievers. but it is only the basic steps. The last enemy to overcome is death. And Jesus christ gives us that promise already through the resurrection.

Not Islam, the nut jobs that are using it as an excuse to kill and maim. Back in the 60's I had Muslim friends. No problem. None of them strapped bombs to themselves, or flew planes into buildings. If you want the world to have a better view of Islam, get rid of your nut jobs. YBIC

There is a certain arrogance about some muslims that is very insulting. Many muslims do not respect other cultures, customs, and religions.
Also, not enough muslims explicitly condemn their fellow muslims who use the name of Islam to commit acts of terrorism.

I freely admit that I don't understand it very well.
I've been told that Mohammad spread the religion through war and that one of his wives was 6 years old when he married her. That seems....strange to me.
I try not to comment on Islam too much simply because I don't know very much about it. I do get frustrated when I hear about fatwas on Rushdie and things of that nature, though.

Fear of the unknown. It is a common trait among people. I have seen Muslims that few Jews, because the do not understand, Baptists that fear Catholics because they do not understand, Lutherans that fear, well you should get the point by now.
