I was afraid of swimming, but now I don't. The most important is to step over your fear - after that it's easy - even when we are babies, we already can swim, but then forget how :) . I first learn how to dive, and than how to swim. Maybe that will work out for you too. Just remember - it's natural for people to swim!!!

I am. 2 reasons. #1 - I almost drowned as a teenager. #2 - I won't swim anywhere I can't see all the way to the bottom because I'm afraid there might be something down there that will hurt me. Not only jelly fish or snappers or living things but I once saw a girl step on a carving knife in the ocean and cut her foot. That's why I don't like to swim.

My mam is very afraid of the water. She was pushed in when she was a child and has never learned to swim because of that. My dad made sure us kids learned though.

Yes because when I was a little girl my daddy uses to take us to the beach and he was trying to teach me how to swim and I swallowed a lot of that beach water I said never again I'll just have to stay away from pools and beaches because I can't drink all of that water. I was also thrown into s 10 ft neighborhood pool. but hat didn't scare me have as much as swallowing allthat NASTY water.

I am. I think I can trace it back to jumping off the high dive when I was like 6 and my mom said she would catch me but she didn't. When I finally surfaced she was talking with friends in the pool while I was drowning 6 feet away.

I wouldn't say necessarily "afraid", but I'm not a good swimmer, so I'm not really comfortable in the water, though I like it.

This doesn't exactly count, but I guess my answer is kinda, because I'm not a strong swimmer.

Not anymore, but I was for MANY years and still panic sometimes. Why? Because I watched a drowning when I was a child.
