The longer you wait the worse it is. It is not too late, but you will have to take it to your vet to be done.

Yes breeders do the ears that early too. They are tapped.

Tails of typically docked breeds should be done by the time the pups are 3 DAYS old. At this age, yes, I feel it is too late. JMO

SHANNON: ears are not done at 3-4 days, just tails and dew claws. "Most vets" won't do an ear cropping until pup are between 8-10 wks old.

properly.. you may get the vet to do it.. this is now not seen ' docking ' it's going to be an amputation. there is extra blood, this is annoying for the tail to heal simply by fact of the place the sewing ought to be, and extra often than not is an fairly painful undertaking to have performed. in case you're caught on a docked tail, seem for a muddle that the breeder appropriate did the tails. otherwise stay with the organic tail and don't worry pupping a puppy domestic dog with the aid of that soreness.

Tail docking is normally done when the puppy is less than a week old. Chopping off his tail when he's already this old will cause him a lot of pain, just like losing a limb. I personally don't recommend tail docking anyway, although it is a personal decision.

You could check with your vet to see if they would do it, though. I just don't recommend it.

It's not to late but why do it ? Are his ears cropped? I have had a few dogs that are docked and ears cropped but now I think that it is cruel to do that and I no longer do that to my pets if it's a show dog then you have no choice but if it's a family pet just love him the way it is ( how you you like to have some part of your body cut of just for the sake of fashion?)

YES! Responsible breeders will do tails and ears no later than 3 or 4 days! Any time after that is horrible, excruciating pain for the pup.

If you're not going to show him, don't worry about it! That's how you bought him, and I'm sure he's cute with his tail full grown!

Docking is cruel. They have bones, muscles, ligaments etc. in their tails. It is not just cartiledge. It would be like if someone cut off part of your arm to make it more fasionable. Why put your puppy through that?

we had our boxers tail docked at 10 weeks and it required stitches but it came out fine. He was fine, with little or no psychological scars. He did provide us with amusement when he would try to wag his nonexistent tail and wagged his entire butt (that soon went away).

Yes but now it is surgery, not so comfortable for the dog but not major surgery. If the ears aren't don e I would just let it be.Most people won't even notice.I hope you didn't pay a big AKC breeder a big price for a "PUREBRED",AKC,STANDARD one and only boxer. He is still a wonderful dog but these AKC Breeders are suppose to know everything and treat everyone like family.I would be curious to know if your dog is registered.Good Luck and if he is OK with you he's perfectly fine.

If you don't intend to show the dog, just leave it. It will make your dog stand out from the very quickly grow crowd of Boxers I've been seeing everywhere!
