And if so who determines what is right or wrong? In a world where the line between right and wrong is so fuzzy where can we find our footing?

There is no absolute right or wrong. You can only do what seems best to you and try not to harm anyone as you live your life.

Most certainly. Is it wrong to kill somebody, or is that just an opinion? I bet you would say that it was wrong if somebody held a gun to your head and asked you, "Is it right or wrong to kill people without mercy?" You would most likely feel violated if somebody tried to kill you, right? Why would you feel that way if killing people is an ok thing to do? Even liberals, who seem to generally be the ones saying that whatever seems right to you is right, often believe that the death sentence is wrong. Why would they insist that the death sentence is a cruel and wrongful punishment if they actually believed right and wrong is an opinion? Anyway, that's what I think.

The statement, "There are NO absolutes in anything." is an absolute.... You're saying there are no exceptions and no is a universal.

Yes I do believe in absolutes. The Bible defines right and wrong.

FPerdurabo and Vinslave: You say there are no absolutes. Are you absolutely sure? Try saying that to you bank teller, the police or the IRS and see how far you get. Your statement is self-defeating. Those who deny absolute truth make the self-defeating truth claim that there is no absolute truth. In this regard they are like someone who answers a knock at the door by saying, "No one is home!"

- Yes, it is determined by the the lessons of how to live we are given in the Bible.

- The line between right & wrong is only made fuzzy by those who attempt to bend the truth to suit their own selfish purposes.

- Whether or not we agree or not, right is right & wrong is wrong. Just as there is only one truth, it does not come in different versions. The truth is the truth and any more or less is a lie.

absolutely Murder is wrong.
absolutely Idolatry is wrong.
absolutely Lying is wrong.
aboslutely stealing is wrong
absolutely adultery is wrong.

do any of these things and you will be sent to hell.

absolutely repent of these things an you will be forgiven.
absolutely Believe in God and you will be saved.
absolutely walk in the spirit of god and the sins of the flesh will have no temptation.

but if you go to war, and kill, there is no absolute, you will be brought to judgment for every life you take, and if it is all justifiable you will be shown mercy, but if you kill the wrong person, it will scrutinized and you will be judged,
The same thing applies to every other shade of NON absolutes.

I believe in absolute morality, and the surprising thing is that I also do not believe in God or a higher power. I think that logic can lead us to a fundamental group of laws that are absolute in their nature.

There is no such thing as absolute right or wrong. There is also no such thing as absolute morality. These choices are determined by each individual. What is right for me may not be right for you, and that's fine. It's one of the wonderful things about the diversity on this planet. By my morality and my idea of right and wrong, even though I really KNOW that there is no such thing, I determine my world. My world is my world and no one else's.

There are NO absolutes in anything. Look to logic and the world around you and you find proof of this. You find your footing by recognizing that everything is dependent upon causes and conditions and all things are impermanent and changing and accepting it. This is the beginning to the journey of finding true "happiness" that is freedom from suffering.

Yes, I do believe in it. I feel that God sets the standards concerning absolute right or wrong?

If it does not exist, then why do we need prisons and punishments. Why hang Saddam Hussein? What is considered right and worng?

right and wrong are judgements - no absolute exists.

However, Love, Truth, Harmony, and Unity are absolutes.
Is what you do loving, truthful, harmonius, and unifying?

You could call what is not the above wrong - but what is the point of doing that?
