What do you mean for 6000 years? Christianity has only existed for 2000 years, not six. Judaism is 4000 years old with Islam being about the same.

And rumors of a god(s) of some sort have been a part of history since the cave man times.

They weren't exactly an educated people in those days. I suggest you do some research on Archaeology. They had no explanation for why things like floods happened, why people got sick, why some foods were good for you and others weren't. So they invented gods to comfort themselves and give them answers where there were none before.

But a belief in god is a belief based in superstition. We are (hopefully) more intelligent now. Which is why you see that science is opening peoples eyes to the facts and causing many to leave the limited mental bounds of religion.

The problem is that there are many that are terrified of living without their god because they can't handle "I don't know but I'll find out". Its sad and disturbing and has caused more death, destruction, and suffering than anything else in history.

1) There are so many unanswered questions (creation, beginning of the universe, etc.) that really God is a logical answer, especially before science has shown things like evolution and the big bang as reasonable theories.

2) Most people feel a presence greater than them, some describe it as God living in them, I think this is true, not because of some Holy Spirit, but I believe God is everything, and I am connected to this everything simply by living.

What about the Norse, Roman, and Greek gods? Do they still exist? We still talk about them, right? They are more than 6000 years.

And, for that matter, why is our timeline for the Earth based on a BC (Before Christ) and AD basis?

It's one of those things that will always be talked about, whether or not he's believed in by everyone. Some people have imaginary friends, some people don't. Some people believe in supernatural powers, some people don't. It's inevitable.

As for me, I'm a believer.

That's it?

Your briliant proof of god relies on our continued discussion of its possible existence?

People have been talking about witches and sea monsters for a while too. I guess they must also exist.

I'm guessing that humans have been talking about god for far longer than 6,000 years, and many more than one.
