Lets say I own a factory that can make 1000 widgets in an average day. So I tell them I expect them to get out 1100 widgets next day. Yes some will not like it some will simply do what they have to do and others will meet the challenge head on.... So the next day near quiting time the boss comes out on the floor and says... "Gang we hit 1032 widgets today. It's better but I still need 1100 a day." So the next day you try to hit the 1100 mark wether its because you want to or because you simply dont want to hear your boss complain it doesnt matter. This is the product of high expectations. Now lets say the boss never told his crew he needed that 1100 widget mark. What would the employees think if they made 900 widgets in a day and the boss never said a word about it.... 900 must be good enough today 900 will be good enough tomarrow. Then one day they make 826 widgets in a day and the boss still says nothing... Now you tell me, tomarrow will the make more or less widgets than today? People tend to meet others expextatons of them. If you dont expect me to do the dishes do you realy think im going to? She is just trying to keep you productive and not to be some useless body taking up space.

What does your mom expect of you that you can not do?
Why don't you make a list of things that she is asking you to do and then write out why it is not possible to do these things.
Mothers only want the best for their children. They want their children to be the best they can be. They do push sometimes too hard. Once you have your list complete give it to her and discuss it with her. Things but down in writing instead of yelling and scream at each other may help clear the air. Get a council at school to talk with you and your mom , so you have someone helping both of you understand what both of you want a loving relationship.

I am going to explain this from the Mother's perspective:
YOUR Mother loves and cares for you .. that is WHY she has certain rules in the home, and certain EXPECTATIONS for you to fulfill. This includes doing your homework, doing well in school, being responsible in the home/elsewhere (including holding a part time job), contributing to the chores of the home, and NOT abusing her or her home or any property she has.
PLEASE sit down and review how you are RESPONDING and TREATING your mother at this time. Are you screaming at her or cursing her out? Slamming doors? Throwing things down or breaking/damaging things? Stealing from her purse or elsewhere? Being irresponsible and just sitting on your backside with your ears plugged into earphones or a video game plugged into the TV? NOT showing that you can get home on time, or disappearing or making 'excuses' all the time for your choices?
THAT is why MOM may be UPSET at this time ... and IF the behaviors change (to one of RESPECT for her and treat her with DIGNITY like she is a HUMAN and NOT like she is your slave/servant) .. then YES, MOM is more than likely to notice this and an IMPROVEMENT in the relationship between you and her WILL be BETTER!

You never mentioned your age and I'm curious what things your mother is expecting of you that you think is too much.
If she is asking you to do things like pick up after yourself, help with household chores, etc. then she is not asking too much. If she's asking you to study hard so you can get into a good college for YOUR future, it's not too much. She wants what's best for you, believe it or not. And remember: she gave you life. The least you could do is listen to her and do as she asks.
I expect no less from my kids.

Oh my that's not a good thing. But remember your mother is your mother bottom line.People get upset when I tell them this but I say it with love.Let me tell you a little story. When I was 14 my mother died.I had 5 other sibblings I was the second oldest so I had to help raise them.I beleive that if people realize what it is like not to have one (forever)then they would think twice about saying mean things about there mother. She probobly dosen't mean the things she says but that is what mother does somtimes please forgive her and talk to her.

It depends.... what did she do to you to make you feel this way?? I know how you feel because, I have went thought the same phase.. When I was three my mother had left me and then came back and then left me again... So what do you think how I feel? After, I have gotten older I realize that it really does not matter now because, I have grown up to forgive her. Like the bible says honor thou mother and thou father (that's if you believe in the bible)...
So Good Luck!!!!

The first step is trying to explain how you feel. If you've tried this then you just let it go. Wait for the day you can be independent, then you can limit the problems because you are not in each other's way all the time. Worked for me.

That's your mother. When she stops expecting anything from you, then you have a problem.
