Yep, dogs shed! This is probably his shedding season, when he "blows coat". Brush him every day until it seems to have let down.

All animals shed, even us humans. Of course different animals shed differently. Some short haired dogs can shed an amazing amount of hair, especially if they are "double coated" breeds with an undercoat. Some dogs, such as poodles, hardly seem to shed at all when properly groomed. Twice a year or so, most animals go through thier seasonal shedding, and then the problems can get worse for a while. This is also known, among dogs, as "blowing the coat".
All shedding problems can be helped by regular grooming. If you think your animal is shedding excessively, take him or her to the vet. It can be a symptom of some underlying health problem, such as a thyroid imbalance.
Good luck

Labs are notorious for shedding. It doesn't matter if it is chocolate, yellow or black. I've had labs all of my life and the best advice I can offer is get your dog used to being brushed. Labs don't need to be bathed every week because it will over dry their skin and fur causing more shedding. Only bathe a lab when it really smells. You may want to see the vet to make sure your dog is healthy and doesn't have any health problems.

I own a chocolate lab and all I can say is GET USED TO IT. I could build another dog with the hair I've swept up. My vet recommends adding olive oil to his diet. I've tried everything even Shed Ender, nothing works. I had all of the blood work done to rule out deficiencies and illness. Some are just worse than others. Lucky me and apparently you too!

I would take the dog to a vet to get checked. It's normal for a dog to shed, but if it's comming out in clumps it might be some sort of skin problem. Phone a vet and get some advise...Good Luck

From experiance i would say:
You should probably get him clipped so his hair is quite short all over, but not too short as these months are quite cold.
Then i would say you should just bathe and groom him daily,
im not sure that there is any other advise that could be offered.
Try them i'd bet they will make a difference.
Good Luck
