My husband and I would like to adopt. Although we would be able to financly care for the child, we do not have the money to pay a high adoption fee. Does anyone know where to look for adopting that does cost a fortune?

If you do a private adoption where you find the mother yourself, you only pay for your attorney and whatever the mother requires like food, clothing ,medical, etc. WE are going this route. There are some girls who don't ask for anything. I am going to give you a website, but you have to be patient, there is a lot of BS on there, but occasionally you can find a real birth mother. Good luck, and my God bless you! P.S. Go to the bottom and click adoption to get to the adoption rooms.

Adopting a foriegn or domestic infant is very expensive. If you would like to adopt a child over the age of two or three, you could try to adopt a child from foster care. The cost to do this is usually less than $200, depending what state you are from. You will have to go through pre-adoption training classes and a home assessment. Go ahead and contact a local adoption agency for more details! Good luck!

In general, adoption costs quite a bit of money. I believe the average is roughly $20,000. Maybe I should not say this as it might scare you away.

There are less expensive ways. Adopting through a governmental agency such as Child Protective Services will probably be cheaper than through a private agency or private attorney.

Former Chicago Bear running back Gale Sayers is an adoptive father, he founded the Gale Sayers adoption foundation (not sure of the exact name but that is close). The foundation encourages adoption in the black community and also offers financial help.

While my wife and I did not go this route, I believe Catholic Charities limits adoption fees to a percentage of income.

In the US, you can get up to $10,500 (not sure of the exact number, again this is close) of adoption expenses refunded to you through your income tax return. Please note, you will have to pay fees up front and then receive a tax refund after the fact.

Some employers offer adoption assistance. After all, they are saving on medical insurance costs.

Good luck. The time, effort and money is all worth it, I promise.

A licensed agency or a county agency (1) usually charges less than a facilitator or a lawyer and (2) is more likely to be up-front about its fees when you ask.

In the long run, an adoption may cost you very little because of the "qualified adoption expenses" tax credit. See:

My husband and I were in exactly the same place you are. Unable to concieve and living modestly but really unable to afford the outrageous costs of adoption. After 3 years we were blessed with the ability to adopt boy/girl twins born to a family member of my husband.
It is an open adoption and can be confusing to some, but we find it works for us. Our twins will be eight years old this March and are the light of our lives.
While I don't have the answers you seek, I wish you the same blessings in your lives. Search every lead, look into foster care, adoption of special needs children etc... There are so many children that need homes and your loving family would be a blessing to them.
God Bless you!

If you adopt a baby in the philipines and the parents are dead or abandoned the baby it's very cheap and quick. If you find a family and the parents are alive just can't keep the baby then you have live in the country until all paperwork is final giving the birth parents the chance to change their minds.
