There is absolutely no situation where drinking alcohol is acceptable...actually, I take it back, if a person is about to die from starvation or thirst and the only thing one can find is pork and alcohol, then they are allowed to consume the smallest amount to fill their need. Other than that, alcohol is ALWAYS haram (forbidden). It is a sin to consume those things.

No in Islam, Alcohol is forbidden, your so called clerics are committing sins, let me guess Arabs? I see many Arabs going to bars its quite sad actually. But they will be called to account for what they did, so you should gather your own GOOD deeds and not worry about them
No EXCEPTIONS depending your position.
(2) Narrated Anas: Allah's Apostle said, "From among the portents of the Hour are (the following): 1. Religious knowledge will be taken away (by the death of Religious learned men). 2. (Religious) ignorance will prevail. 3. Drinking of alcoholic drinks (will be very common). 4. There will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse. (Book #3, Hadith #80)
Hmm seems like its pretty true to me considering the Prophet pbuh said this 1400+ years ago.
Peace Be With You

You're absolutely right alcohol is not only prohibited but is forbidden for any Muslim to
drink it and I can't imagine any cleric to drink
it behind doors let alone in public ,but there's always a doubt but let's not generalize it
There's always the bad apples.
Islam is the only religion who forbid alcohol,
In the Islamic world there's NO drinking age
laws....WHY?because we have no drinking
problems !!!!! www.whyIslam.org/

Interesting question, I have seen muslims time and time again forgo these restrictions when they leave their native country. They claim that these rules no longer apply. I'm guessing they are making that up, but it's interesting that rationalization exists even in such a strict religion as theirs!
So don't feel so bad xians.

Not because there are two who don’t apply a rule in Islam, this means that there is a fault in the religion, the fault is what they did, this is like what extremists do,they do things which we are not ordered with, and everyone says that Islam encourages agression and intolerance.....
All Alcholic drinks are forbidden in Islam, and who drinks them is committing a sin,may Allah guide us to his way,and judge us with his mercy...

Nope, no exceptions what so ever!
No doubt alcohol is intoxicating, and contains this substance that makes people lose their minds. It says in the hadeeth, “Every intoxicant is khamr, and every khamr is haraam (forbidden).” If this is the case, then alcohol is considered to be forbidden and to come under the heading of “khamr”(wine, etc.) which people drink for relaxation or enjoyment. Allaah has forbidden it and stated that it is a sin, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):
“They ask you (O Muhammad) concerning alcoholic drink and gambling. Say: ‘In them is a great sin, and (some) benefits for men, but the sin of them is greater than their benefit’”
[al-Baqarah 2:219]
If sin is present and it is great, then it is forbidden. Undoubtedly this alcohol is harmful to the mind and body, and Allaah has forbidden everything that harms the body and mind, and saps the strength. Everything that is harmful to a person is not permitted, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And do not kill yourselves”
[al-Nisaa’ 4:29]
“and do not throw yourselves into destruction”
[al-Baqarah 2:195]
And because this is an extravagant waste of money, an action of the spendthrift which comes under the words of Allaah (interpretation of the meaning):
“Verily, the spendthrifts are brothers of the Shayaateen (devils)
[al-Israa 17:27]
Using alcohol in ways other than drinking it may be permitted if small amounts are used, such as mixing it with perfumes that are used on clothes or the body, because it keeps them from spoiling, and because it keeps the clothes clean. This is OK, but drinking it is not permissible under any circumstances.
It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed ten people in connection with alcohol: the one who presses [the grapes, etc], the one for whom that is done, the one who drinks it, the one who carries it, the one to whom it is carried, the one who pours it, the one who sells it, the one who consumes its price, the one who buys it, and the one for whom it is bought.”
