I have an old house 2000 sq ft built in the early 50's, problem is the electric wiring is still original...Everything works perfectly but it is still old. I want to change it ASAP but is there and Insurance provider that will cover me now? Who will or how can I find out?

Yes, any of them will, its just a matter of paying a higher premium.

Alot of companies don't even ask about how old your wiring is. I've been an agent for 2 1/2 years in TX and have never had that come up. I sell policies every day to people whose houses were built then. Just browse around for quotes.

Sure, you can go to a place like Foremost Insurance, they will insure houses with knob & tube. You'll pay, maybe 5X what a regular company would charge you, but hey, there you have it. It WOULD be cheaper to rewire the house. Find a foremost agent near you at www.foremostinsurance.com

Do you currently carry insurance on the house? Hope so.
What are you looking for from insurance? Do you want them to pay for the upgrade? A local electrician will be able to help you upgrade. My son is an electrician but I doubt you live in PA near us cuz I know he would help you.

Most companies ask if the wiring, HVAC, plumbing, and roof, have been updated or replaced, if the home is 50 years old. It does not necessary mean they will not write it after inspecting it. Usually they will give you a discount if it has been updated completely.
