given your recent illness, your surgery might very well be pushed back until the dr's can be sure you don't have any more infection lingering.
the antibiotic you were given usually has a run course of about 7-14 days depending on how severe the infection. the medication has to be completed before your surgery can be done, otherwise you run the risk of becoming more infected and more sick b/c surgery causes your immune system to be compromised due to your body having to heal.
you might feel better knowing that you are 100% better before going into a major surgery like that. your healing time will be alot faster and alot less painful if you are not sick going in.
and look on the bright side-you can put off the pain and stress of having to deal with it for a little while longer!!
hope you feel better

Maybe. There is a lot of Flu and colds about, and a lot of chest infections just now. If you have a mild chest infection, a week should be fine to get better, particularly if you are on antibiotics. However, it does seem a funny choice of antibiotic, and I am not sure why you have been given prednisolone as well unless you are asthmatic or have some other pre-existing chest disease. The answer to your question is you might be better, you might not, and it is impossible to predict without having seen how sick you are or knowing a bit more about you. But I hope you get well soon!!

Prednisolone is a steroid that will reduce the inflammation in your lungs and Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic which should take care of the infection.
Usually, they are prescribed for a 10 day period but the condition should have abated by the sixth or seventh day therefore you should be fine for the procedure next week.
If you are still congested, they will postpone the operation until your lungs are clear.

Those drugs are quite strong, and you are probably only on a weeks course. I'd have prescribed clarithomycin, personally. The infection will die after 2/3 days of start, however, the symptoms of coughing & phlegm (hopefully white or clear by now - not green) may persist for another week/10 days. Sinisitus is unfortunately a bit harder to shift!

You're asking someone to predict the future for you. I'm sorry, but it's just not possible to do so.
IF you are scheduled for a surgical procedure, then that is considered to be elective surgeryy. If you still have an active infection at that time, your surger will be canceled and will have to rebooked. You won't have a choice in that one.

Call your surgeon ASAP and let them know. It might go away, but the surgeon may not want to operate if you were so recently ill. You don't want to have to recover from a respiratory infection and a back operation. Your body can only handle so much. If you need a doctor to explain please call your surgeon ASAP so they can reschedule you if they need to. You could really be doing a lot of damage to your body if you don't.

Hopefully. If on the day of your scheduled surgery you have a fever or are not better (hopefully not worse), they will postpone your operation until the infection is gone. You should tell your surgeon now that you have this. Call their office.

ask your surgeon....
i just wanted to let you know I had a failed BAC cage 10 years ago
I was supposed to damn near be able to drive myself home.
another surgeon told me he would have put me in traction for 6 weeks ... so I am stuck with an irremovable appliance...shots in my spine every 3/4 months disabled for life and on SSI.
good thing I am married or I would be in a nursing home.\
Think before this happeneds to you, Ask for a second opinion from his competition....see if traction will help you. I am in unbelievable pain....more than if I didn't have the surgery in the first place.. I was better than this before the surgery...
oh>>> and it takes 10-14 days to recoverer from that chest thing
you have . and they will NOT do the surgery until they like your breathing... good luck get a second opinion

You should be well on the way to recovery by then but you need to ask the hospital. it may be that you need to be 100% well before you are admitted as anaesthetic can be very dangerous if you are not completely well. Good luck
