maybe i should clarify. why not have a single gender that is able to reproduce with itself. i'm not a creationist and wonder if there are any decent arguments why any other system other than evolution would create multiple sexes.

When i say 'itself' i really meant members of its own gender.
new to this stuff, will be more specific in future

Have you not considered that two genders, male and female, man and wife, pictures the union of Christ and His Bride, Of God with man ?

That's a stupid question... even kids should know that!

So we can produce offsprings, and increase the family. If that wasn't the case, then there would only be 1 generation. For it to be two genders, we can reproduce, and live off for generations.... live off in meaning the family etc. You get the point? It wouldn't make sense if there was one gender, and we can reproduce now will it? o.O

Several reasons I would imagine! Partly for reproduction as having two parents or caregivers is likely to be better than one in ideal circumstances. God created sex for pleasure (within marriage) and it wouldn't be as much fun on our own! Thirdly the image of the Church as the Bride of Christ, as already mentioned. Just as a point of interest, not a criticism, homosexuality does occur in the beginning - it is indeed in Genesis.

Let's have a vote on whether there should be 3, 4 or more. What would the purposes be of more then two, then re-ask the question about having only one.

Man was split into two personalities and when those two personalities come together you have that which was split now brought back together and made one with that intimate relationship.

Man and woman complement each other.

If you believe in God you wouldn't ask this question because you would know that He has a purpose/reason for everything....even if you don't know what that purpose/reason is.

I'm an atheist and even I know that much....LOL. Read before you ask.
